The Suffolk Regiment Gallery
The Suffolk Regiment Gallery is situated in Moyses Hall Museum, Cornhill, Bury St Edmunds. The Gallery tells the story of the 274 years of history of the XIIth Suffolk Regiment from 1685 to 1959.
Using very modern graphic panels and representations of Suffolk soldiers through the ages the Gallery traces the story of Suffolk's fighting men. The story is introduced with a short film of Private Catchpole and shows the 'family' nature of The Suffolk Regiment as we see Catchpole's ancestors marching and munching their way through nearly 300 years of conflict.
One of the highlights of the display is the 'Stablis' Colour, carried by the XIIth Regiment at the Battle of Seringapatam in 1799.
Moyses Hall Museum is open all year round. Call: 01284 706183 for further details.
